Day 8 ~ From Virginia Beach to Lexington, Kentucky

Good bye Sammy
Maybe we will see you at another KOA campground someday.
And here we go... Virginia Beach to Lexington, Kentucky
Sometimes you can't trust the GPS, it gave us a wrong turn but we got to see this that we didn't know existed. Cable Cars in Virginia Beach?

Back on the right road and crossing OVER the water
This photo just tickled me... it looks like the ship is sitting on the bridge above the water
The bridge is now turning into a tunnel
The GPS is showing us that we are going under water...lol and only 9 more hours to go

 Coming back up ~
And we are back above water...

 This is the Hampton Coliseum
And that's our last picture of the Atlantic Ocean area...

Back to the trees and on to some new countryside views as we travel across Virginia
I had to get a photo of this in my mirror... Subaru Outback with kayaks and bikes
(us on our next trip)
Blue Ridge Parkway ~
Coming up on Waynesboro, Virginia

Virginia countryside on Hwy 64 West

Airplanes on the farm...
Real airplanes right there on the side of the road on the farm.

Just because I am this kind of girl : ) ...
West Virginia... We made it this far! Woohoo!

~ Here we go through West Virginia ~
This reminds me of pictures of Italy

And I had to get a shot of an old barn, of course.
A piece of advice ~
When the GPS asks you if you want to avoid Toll Roads in West Virginia...
Say NO!
You THINK you will like going off the beaten path through the mountains...
And seeing the less-traveled countryside...
And tiny towns in the mountains...
But trust me ~
Hair-pin turns through the mountains in West Virginia for 80 miles

As it is getting dark
Is not enjoyable.
We found the first place to cut back across to the main highway 20 miles in and took it.
They built those Toll Roads for a reason.
Our little detour turned our 9-hour drive into a 10-1/2- hour drive but we did get to see the sunset this way

And a place called "Biscuit World"...lol
This is the last photo of the day.
We did make it to Lexington, Kentucky but it was very late.

~ The End of Day 8 ~
