Day 10 ~ Kentucky to Home

The last day of our trip we drove through old Georgetown, Kentucky before heading to Louisville
What a cute little town.
We love when we come across quaint little things like this.

And we took the back road through the country side
We really wanted to see the Kentucky country side
This very cool stone wall went on for a couple of miles
Going through a tunnel and on the other side we come into...
Louisville, Kentucky

This is really all we saw of the city itself
Love this view and these beautiful bridges
The sign says Canal Entrance
It's all about bridges in Louisville
This looked like a roller coaster
Doesn't it?

The other type of bridge is for trains...
So the roller-coaster-looking bridge is the one we take to cross over the Ohio River
I didn't realize we would be crossing over this river several times in a couple of days.
Then we enter into Indiana...
Back to the fields of yellow flowers and little farms
Driving through Indiana, west to Illinois...
Is it just me? Or does this seem not quite right... Amish Buffet (?)
 I couldn't leave this out : )
 A pretty farm in Indiana
Wow! What is wrong with this picture?
I hope there wasn't a train on it when it collapsed.
~ Back in Illinois, temporarily...
Every state in this area seems to stake a claim to Lincoln in some way : )
I wish I had been able to get a good photo of this couple in the car. I wonder if they are the original owners?

We can definitely tell we are back in Illinois. It was interesting to watch the landscape change from state to state, from mountains and trees to flat farmlands.
But only for a little while as we head into St. Louis, Missouri from the East side.
Coming into St. Louis from this side is a completely different experience.
Back to the Mississippi River

And another Cable Car Train I didn't know existed.
Which brings us full circle back to the west side of St. Louis, Missouri on the last leg of our journey.

I think it is appropriate to end with a double steeple...
The rest of the drive was just the last hour of familiar scenes that I have been taking photos of for the last year and a half so this ends our road trip.

I hope you enjoyed the journey with us.
~

Until next time...
