Spring in the Country

Tulips are popping up all over.

Every Spring there is an Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale here.
The Amish came this year.
Since this is a community in the country on a lake it is pretty spread out. To walk around the whole neighborhood would be too much so the preferred mode of transportation is something like this...

I looked more closely at this photo and love the moment between the child and grandfather in the backseat.

This is our neighbor Charlie... He is in his 80s! He makes these walking sticks and he makes the beaded hangings...
He sells these...

He has another walking stick covered with beaded OWLS...
I love Charlie. When I grow up I want to be as active and creative as he is.

Here is Milo just chillin' and taking in the scene.

Another Grandfather and child moment... I guess the Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale brings families together...

We've been seeing these purple trees all over so I had to get a photo and find out what it is...
Apparently it is an Eastern Redbud Tree. Isn't it just gorgeous?

These are called "May Apples"... when they appear that means it is time to go mushroom hunting.
And around here we L*O*V*E
 mushrooms!

Spring means alot of things... The one I am least happy about is the storms!
When we saw the lightning we had to go.
Ohhh... I heard a wild turkey. We were on the golf course and Richard called out to it... it called back! And then I saw one out in the field off the road on the way home. I was not able to get a photo :(

But I got this little guy...

And this pair of geese...
Ohhhh... and I saw a whole family of geese, brand new babies (goslings) and the mom and dad, walking along on the grass off the side of the highway. Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me and we were on the highway so we couldn't stop anyway.

This intrigues me... it looks like petals open and out shoots leaves... this is the opposite of what I am used to!

And... just because I am in love with anything this gorgeous... and PINK ;-) ...

 And these SLICKS!!!... oH mY!...

Daffodils pop up all over the place out here too...

So I will be taking as many photos of the tulips, daffodils and other Spring flowers as I can on clear sunny days. I will be watching for goslings and ducklings too! And... baby turtles, birds, herons...

Golfing in Missouri

So to begin with... this is not just a Golf Course... it is a Golf Club! That means there are big, gorgeous homes all around the course (and actually within the course, which I think is just plain crazy ;-). Like this one, our favorite, which sits right in the middle. And the most bizarre part is what is right in front of it...
This scene just made me giggle. The juxtaposition of the mansion and the outhouse with the tree made me wonder...? Tickled my funny bone.
Then...
This looks like a normal bridge, right? But I walked down around to get a shot of it from the side and...
Look closely... those are tires and that is a trailer! LOL. Now I'm REALLY wondering...??
Well... This IS Missouri! ;-)
What's next?...

This is more like what I was expecting...
A beautiful and very old tree! We just love these old souls.
From here you can see a couple of the houses on the course.
The Club House

The only sprinklers I have seen out here in the Midwest. I was just commenting on that, in fact... In California sprinklers are a staple, everyone has sprinklers. Out here, they are almost nonexistent.

Richard said "Look, the next bridge"... LOL.

Isn't this just lovely?
I just love this scene. You can just barely see the 2 golfers in the trees. These older gentlemen were very sweet and we enjoyed chatting with them. They were in their 70s and 80s which inspired us.

Ahhhhh.... :-) I love the trees, the shadows... And.....
...the guy in the golf cart!

What a shot!

Of course I had to check out the tiny flowers at the base of the trees.
A single goose. I didn't see any others... I hope it has a mate somewhere close by.

I actually did hit the ball. I made a "putt". My first ever. And it was a doozy! Right here... see this flag... if it wasn't in the hole to stop the ball it would have gone in the water, but it went just right into the hole as it is supposed to! A 10-foot putt done perfectly! LOL... I'm quitting while I'm ahead. :-)

There was a pair of these ducks I just didn't get a good photo of them together.
The last hole. Well done! It was another great day on a golf course!
But before we leave...
We went into the Club House...
And I saw this on the wall...

It is true... That's my Richard ... on the Hole-In-One Honor Roll!
End of the day... view from the Club House.

And... on the way home... a farm in Missouri...
I think I may do a Red album... Red Barns... Red Silos... Red Farms...
