Field Trip ~ Lovers Leap

This is in Hannibal, Missouri... "America's Hometown"
If you are familiar with Mark Twain (Samual Clemens), the legendary author of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" you may recognize it.
Hannibal, Missouri is the boyhood home of Mark Twain and the setting for his stories.
But this is NOT about Mark Twain and it is NOT one of his stories.
This is more like Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet...
This is the story of  an Indian brave and his princess...
The rock ...
I keep looking at this photo. The shadow and the sunlight give it something extra.

The rock and the Mississippi River
(my version of a selfie)
On the other side of the river is Illinois.

The bridge that crosses the Mississippi River into Hannibal on the left.

The lighthouse is in the trees. This is Hannibal. The trees are just beginning to change.

Downtown Hannibal.
Next weekend is the official "Color Run" and it should be the peak of the fall colors.
The flag at Lovers Leap in a gentle breeze with blue skies

The road into Hannibal on the Missouri side of the River. I love the orange tips on the trees.
We had taken a drive along the Mississippi River Road in Missouri down to a golf course but it was cloudy all day. On the way back the sun came out and we decided to stop at Lovers Leap.
I have alot of photos from earlier in the day but I have to edit them.
These pictures were all taken with Richard's camera because I hadn't charged all the batteries for my camera and it died. This camera takes good photos but it doesn't have the zoom.
So that is the story of Lovers Leap.
I hope you enjoyed this little Field Trip.

Fall also means Bull Frogs! lol... I had no idea :) I was so surprised by these guys in the pond at the golf course...

And ~
Toadstools!!! ?... I have never seen this before. I didn't know they were for real ...
We were zipping along in the golf cart when Richard saw these and stopped so I could get pics...
I have not touched these photos or edited them in any way these are totally for real ...
The sun touched this one to look like it is lit up from below ...
Hmmmm... Whatever it is it looks very cool!

Fall means Purple Aster ...
And Sedum Autumn Joy ...
Bringing Fall inside at the Winery ...

The sun has shifted casting a soft glow on the vineyard, which is covered with netting to keep the birds from eating the grapes ...
I had an amazing experience to share ...
While we were sitting on the balcony enjoying a glass of wine with some yummy food in the sunshine, just relaxing and talking...
The trees come up to the winery, there is a small opening in the trees, a walkway into the woods
The sun was shining right on this little space
A doe slowly walked up in the opening with the sun on her like a spotlight
She stopped and looked right at me for a moment
It took my breath away and felt like the world stopped for a minute
I didn't have my camera in my hand so it is just a special memory for me.
